How to Get Rid of a Clump of Grass
A lawn slated for renovation or conversion into a natural area must be prepared. Any remaining clumps of grass will need to be removed to ready the soil for seeding or installation of landscape plants and mulch. Clumps of grass can be killed with a liquid herbicide to make the grass easier to remove. Does this Spark an idea?

- Shovel
Instructions

1
Fill the tank of a 1-gallon garden sprayer half full of water.
-
2
Measure 3 ounces of liquid glyphosate herbicide in a measuring cup. Pour the measured herbicide into the tank with the water. Place the top on the tank and shake it to mix.
-
-
3
Remove the top from the tank once again, and fill the tank with water to the 1-gallon line. Place the top on the tank once again and shake it.
-
4
Set the spray nozzle on the spray wand to a stream or spray, based on personal preference. Use a wider spray, for example, when wind is low and a large clump of grass is to be treated. Spray the clump of grass with the glyphosate herbicide to coat the grass completely.
-
5
Monitor the clump of grass over the next five to seven days. Treat the grass with the herbicide once again if all the grass does not die.
-
6
Scoop the dead clump of grass with roots attached from the ground with a shovel.
