Instructions
-
Pre-Cleaning
-
1
Remove the plastic shipping bag from your Catit water fountain.
-
2
Screw the handle gently into the dome of the Catit unit, turning clockwise. Avoid pressing down on the handle, as this can damage the handle's threads.
-
-
3
Lift the dome up by the handle, remove the plastic bag from the filter and set the filter aside. Remove the cardboard insert from the bottom of the Catit unit.
-
4
Use a sponge, water and a mild detergent, such as dishwashing detergent, to clean the unit completely, including the pump and dome. Do not clean the filter. Rinse your Catit unit well under the faucet.
-
5
Remove any extra carbon dust from the filter by rinsing it in water under the faucet. Put the filter into the unit.
Preparation
-
6
Open the valve by lifting the dome by its handle, turning the dome upside down, pressing the stem down, and then turning the stem either left or right 90 degrees. The stem will stay depressed and open when in place.
-
7
Run tap water from your faucet and place the open valve underneath the faucet to fill up your unit.
-
8
Close the valve by pressing down on the stem and turning it 90 degrees. The spring will release, and the stem will go back into its closed position.
-
9
Turn the Catit dome right-side up. Use the bubbles in the dome to help guide you when connecting the dome to its base. Line the large bubble inside of the dome with the raised part of the base. You will know when you have the dome connected correctly when you see water draining into the base.
-
10
Connect the power cord to the supplied AC adapter, then plug the adapter into the wall outlet. Check to see that the plastic guard protecting the power cord is in place, so it does not contact the Catit dome. Place the excess power cord underneath the unit, so your cat will not chew on it.
-
11
Ensure objects do not contact the Catit dome or any other part of the unit; otherwise, water can spill out.
-
12
Check to see if the water flows evenly over the surface of the dome. If the water flows unevenly, rub your hands over the dome's surface. The uneven water flow will not affect the Catit unit's performance.
-
13
Place the supplied food dish close to the water bowl in the position you desire.
