  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Brown paper bag
  • Tea bag
  • Bowl
  • Grinder
  • Pine branch or bough
  • Basil
  • Cloves
  • Tansy
  • Penny royal
  • Bay leaves

Instructions

      Cut strips from a paper bag about 2 inches wide. Mix the corn syrup and starch and apply it on the strips. Hang it near a window or door to catch flies.

      Hang a pine branch or bough near a door or window. Flies are deterred as they do not like the scent of pine oil.

      Grind cloves and place them in a tea bag. Hang the tea bag in the kitchen to repel flies.

      Place a basil plant near a window or door to keep flies away. They get repelled by the scent.

      Place few dried sprigs of mint, penny royal, bay leaves or tansy in a bowl in the kitchen. The scent repels flies.

Tips & Warnings

  • Place penny royal out of pets or children's reach as it can be toxic in large amounts.
