Checking up on internet usage can remove suspicion from a relationship

The Internet has revolutionized many parts of our lives. It is unfortunate that infidelity is included as one of the parts that has been revolutionized. With entire dating websites dedicated to the demographic of spouses looking to cheat on their significant other, it can be a constant worry for people whose relationship is perhaps not in a good place. Fortunately, it is a simple process to get a good idea of what Internet sites others are visiting.

Access whatever internet browser your spouse uses. Some of the more popular are Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera. With the browser open, find where the history is stored. This will be different for every browser and different depending on the version of the browser, but a common place to start looking is in the main options. On many browsers, holding down Ctrl while pressing H will also bring up the history.

    • 2

Look through the history for any URL that resembles a dating site. If you think you know what site your spouse might use, if a friend met a significant other through a particular dating site for instance, then most browsers will allow you to search the history. If you can't find anything, try searching for the word "date" or the phrase "matchmaking" or any other keywords that might be associated with a dating website.

Know that many modern browsers allow users to browse the Internet in anonymous mode, meaning that whatever sites they visit don't get added to the history. Browser history is also easy to delete, making it even more difficult to be sure. If large chunks of time are missing from the history where you're sure your spouse would have used their computer, or if the history is deleted entirely, then the browsing history might have been obfuscated.

Consider buying Internet monitoring software if looking in the browser's stored internet history was unsuccessful. There are many different software options that would work, most of them advertised as solutions for monitoring children's browsing habits. Keep in mind though that these programs can be discovered by the computer user.
