Go to www.craigslist.com. Click "U.S. States" in the far-right column. Click "Texas." Click "Abilene."

Click "post to classifieds." Click "Housing offered." Choose the appropriate category. For example, "apts/housing for rent."

Complete the template with your rental information including: rent, number of bedrooms, posting title, specific location, your email address, posting description, address and pet policy. You can add up to four pictures. When this is complete, click "continue."

Review the ad. If it is not satisfactory, click "edit" to go back to editing. If it is satisfactory, click "continue."

Read and --- if you agree --- accept the terms of use by clicking "ACCEPT the terms of use." You may then be asked for your phone number to verify your ad. To continue, type your phone number in the provided field, and choose whether you want the verification code via voice message or text message. When you receive the code, enter it in the provided field, and click "submit verification code" then click "continue posting."

Type the two verification words given and click "enter." You will then receive an email in the inbox of the email account that you provided in step three. Open the email and click the provided link. A new webpage with your ad opens. Review your ad again. If it is not satisfactory click "edit" and return to step three. If it is still satisfactory, click "publish." Your free ad will be published usually within an hour.
