Although canceling your cell phone contract with Verizon Wireless may be an easy task, you will not be able to terminate your contract early without paying a fee. Verizon is the most expensive cell-phone provider to end a contract with, charging $350 per phone minus $10 per month for each month you've had service, as of 2011. If you bought your phone from a kiosk or a dealer, you may face even more charges.

      Check your Verizon contract online before canceling your contract. Know how much you will have to pay ahead of time for your early termination fee (ETF) before canceling.

      Call Verizon customer service at 1-800-922-0204 or dial 611 from your cell phone.

      Tell the customer service agent that you would like cancel your contract. The agent will then confirm that you will have to pay an ETF in order to cancel your contract.

      The agent will cancel your contract and either charge your credit card for the ETF or mail you an invoice.

    • 5

      Pay your bill quickly to avoid a negative impact on your credit scores.
