How to Peel & Mash Avocados
Someone new to avocados does not have to be intimidated by their bumpy skin or the odd shape of the fruit. This fruit is not difficult to prepare and makes a healthy addition to any meal. Once you have learned to remove the skin and the seed in the avocado and mash the fruit, you can use it to make a variety of dishes. The skin and the seed in the avocado are the only parts of the fruit that do not get eaten. Does this Spark an idea?

Hold the avocado in one hand. Stand the avocado up lengthwise against the cutting board.

Remove the pit of the avocado by placing the edge of your knife under the pit and holding the avocado lengthwise and squeezing the ends of the avocado gently. The pit will pop out of the fruit and off the knife.

Place the avocado fruit half on the cutting board. The skin should be facing you and the fruit should be facing the cutting board. Slide the edge of your knife under the avocado's skin starting at the top narrow edge of the fruit. Apply your knife to the underside of the skin and peel the skin off by moving the knife towards you. The skin will come off smoothly.

Dice the halved avocado up with your knife and apply a clean fork to the fruit to mash it. Place the fork on the avocado pieces and push the fork down through the fruit. The fruit will mash quickly.
