The iPod syncs through your computer.

The iPod uses a special computer software program called iTunes to add, remove and organize its media. As of 2011, the iPod Classic offers 160 GB of storage, but even with this much space, you may sometimes still want to remove some songs to make room for new ones. If you don't want to remove the music from your iTunes library altogether, you can manually remove only the songs you no longer want from your iPod.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your iPod into your computer and open iTunes if it doesn't open automatically.

    • 2

Click on your iPod's name under "Devices." In the main window, select "Summary;" and then select "Manually manage music and videos."

    • 3

Click "Apply;" and then click on the arrow on the left side of the name of your iPod under "Devices." This brings up a drop-down menu. Click "Music."

    • 4

Right-click on the songs you want to delete and click "Delete."

    • 5

Click the "Eject" button on the left hand side of the name of your iPod; and then disconnect the device from your computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have your iPod sync manually, you must manually disconnect it.

  • Don't disconnect your iPod without ejecting it first.
