How to Set Life Goals as a Christian
Do you know where you will be in 10 years? What do you want to accomplish by the time your life is over? These are important questions that will guide your life-design process. Anybody who wants to live a life of purpose must set goals for their lives. As a Christian, you should consult God and the Bible in determining the goals for your life.

1
Develop an active prayer life to stay in tune with what God wants for your life. Lambert Dolphin says that walking with God is the daily responsibility of a Christian and that prayer is God's way of drawing us into what He is doing in the world (see References 1).

2
Identify your personal God-given talents and strengths. Not all Christians should be traveling evangelists or preachers; every individual has unique talents and spiritual gifts that should help to guide a specific life path. Ask yourself what you were doing when you felt most alive, this provides a key to your unique individuality and will help you find your passion, or what many Christians call your "calling."

Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to your goals. For example, if you want to be a Bible teacher, you will need to do extensive study of the Bible and consult commentaries, maps and other resources. You may need to seek out mentors or take classes to develop the appropriate skills.

4
Plan for obstacles and develop solutions to inevitable problems you will encounter in pursuing your life goals. Problems are going to happen along your pursuit of life goals; the wise person anticipates these problems and has plans to overcome them.
-
5
Pray to God for His help in accomplishing your goals. Print off your list of goals and place them in a prayer journal so that you encounter them every day. This will remind you to pray for your overall life goals as often as you look at your prayer journal, perhaps each morning as you pray for a successful day filled with accomplishments.

Tips & Warnings
Take action steps every single day to work towards your goals in every aspect of your life. Look back at the end of each day to make sure you are working towards your goals. The examined life is one that is examined every day.
Do not be discouraged if you find that you are not accomplishing all of your goals. It is desirable to have ambitious goals and there is nothing wrong with coming up short on some of them. Just change the time-line for accomplishing your life goals and understand that you have your entire life to work at these same goals.
