How to Send Text Messages on a TracFone
TracFone is a prepaid cell phone for which you purchase airtime minutes in the form of a phone card. Many different denominations of cards are available, including 240, 600 and 1000 minutes. When using the phone service, voice calls use up minutes, depending on the length of the call, and texting uses a half-minute per message sent or received, regardless of how long it takes.

Select "Menu" on the main screen.

Select the picture of the envelope and press "OK."

Select "Create Message" and "SMS/EMS."

Type a message, using the keypad. Each number correlates with three letters. For example, the "2" key represents letters "a," "b" and "c." Press the number key multiple times to scroll through the letter options.

Press "OK" on the keypad.

Enter the phone number to which you want to send the text and select "Send."
