Instructions

    • 1

Place plastic tarps on the floor and on the walls to the left and right of the brick wall. Tape the tarps, using masking tape, to keep them from moving. Put on protective clothing, goggles and gloves.

    • 2

Measure from the left side of the brick wall to the right side, using a tape measure. Make a mark on the brick wall, using a grease pencil, at every 3-foot mark.

    • 3

Cut a vertical line down the length of the brick wall, using a partner saw, at every 3-foot mark, starting at the top of the wall.

    • 4

Set a hammer drill to "vibrate." Attach a small wedge tip to the end of the drill and tighten it down with the included drill key.

    • 5

Place the drill bit in the mortar between the bottom of the topmost left brick and the brick beneath. Press the trigger on the hammer drill and run the tip along the length of the mortar between the two bricks.

    • 6

Release the trigger and pull the brick off. Place it aside. Look for the presence of a wall tie. If you see one, pull out the tie using a claw hammer.

    • 7

Repeat the procedure with the hammer drill as you move across the length of the brick wall. Move down one brick and reverse direction when you reach the right side of the wall. Repeat the entire procedure until all the bricks have been pulled off.

    • 8

Dispose of the bricks properly. Remove the masking tape from the tarps, wad them up and dispose of them. Vacuum the area to remove loose dust and other contaminants that are too small to pick up by hand. The wall can now be remodeled as desired.
