How to Turn off Sleep Mode on Compaq Computers

Compaq is a worldwide manufacturer of desktop and laptop computers. Like other computers running the Windows operating system, Compaq computers features a sleep mode that saves all of your computer's open documents and puts the computer into a low power state. Depending on your power settings, this may happen automatically after a certain period of time. You can disable this through your computer's power plan settings.

Instructions

1. Click the "Start" button in the bottom left corner of the desktop and select "Control Panel."

2. Click "System and Maintenance" and select "Power Options."

3. Choose the power plan you want to change the settings for, or leave it alone to change your current power settings, and select "Change plan settings."

4. Click the drop-down box under "Put the computer to sleep" and select "Never." Your computer will now not go to sleep no matter how long it is on for. You can still manually put it to sleep by selecting "Sleep" under the shutdown options.
