Wedge-shaped scones can be made with any scone recipe. Whether they are chocolate chip or cinnamon scones, plain scones or scones studded with dried cranberries, the secret to creating scones in the traditional wedge shape lies in the way the dough is cut before it is baked. Things You'll Need

  • Scone dough
  • Pastry board, baking parchment or silicone baking mat
  • Flour
  • Large knife
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

      Prepare your favorite scone dough according to the recipe.

      Sprinkle a light coating of flour onto a pastry board, or work surface, covered with baking parchment or a silicone baking mat. Turn the dough out onto the work surface.

      Sprinkle flour onto your hands and pat the dough into a circle. Flatten it gently until it is about 1-inch thick.

      Spray the blade of the knife lightly with cooking spray. Press the knife blade down onto the dough to cut it into two, even half-circles. Turn the knife and cut the dough into four large wedges. Repeat twice more, so that each large wedge is cut into two smaller wedges.

      Place the wedges on a prepared baking sheet with at least ½-inch of space between them. Bake according to the recipe directions.
