How to Make Conference Calls From Mobiles

How to Make Conference Calls From Mobiles thumbnail
Making conference calls can be simple.

Most mobile phone plans include conference calling (sometimes called three-way calling) as a free feature, and no additional features or fees are necessary to place a conference call. The process for placing a conference call and the amount of outbound calls you can connect at one time will vary depending on the type of mobile phone you possess and the network you use.

Instructions

  1. From a Basic Mobile Phone

    • 1

Place a call to one of the conference call parties from your mobile phone by dialing the number and pressing "Send."

    • 2

Wait for the first person to answer the inbound call before proceeding with your conference call.

    • 3

Dial the number of the second party you would like to include on the conference call, then press "Send." Pressing the "Send" button on your mobile phone will place the first calling party on hold and dial the second number.

    • 4

Wait for the second party to answer their phone, then press "Send" to merge the two calls together, creating a conference call between all three numbers. If the second party does not answer, press "Send" twice to return to the first call.

Place a Conference Call From a BlackBerry

    • 5

Place a call to the first calling party by dialing the number and pressing "Send." Wait for them to answer before proceeding with the conference call.

    • 6

Press the BlackBerry's trackball, trackpad, trackwheel or the menu button, which is marked with the BlackBerry symbol, and select "Conference call" or "3-way call" from the menu.

    • 7

Dial the second calling party's phone number or choose the appropriate number from your contact list.

    • 8

Wait for the second calling party to answer, access the Blackberry's on-call menu via the trackpad, trackball, trackwheel or menu button, then select "Flash" to connect the calls.

Place a Conference Call from an iPhone

    • 9

Place a call to one of the conference call participants. Wait for the first party to answer before proceeding.

    • 10

Tap "Add Call" to place the original party on hold and call the second party.

    • 11

Select "Merge Calls" from the screen to connect the two calls.

Place a Conference Call From an Android

    • 12

Place a call to one of the conference call parties, then wait for them to answer before proceeding.

    • 13

Press the "Menu" button to open a small list of additional options on the screen.

    • 14

Tap "Add call" to place the first party on hold and dial the second calling party's number.

    • 15

Wait for the second party to answer the phone. Press "Menu" and then "Merge" on the screen to connect the conference call.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you live in Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota or southern Illinois, or are traveling outside of your home area, you may have to press "Send" before dialing the second call participant's number.

  • Monitor your usage closely if you are on a mobile phone plan with a minute allotment; conference calls can charge minutes for both connected calls.
