How to Write a Sponsorship Paper

How to Write a Sponsorship Paper thumbnail
Companies of all sizes can seek to sponsor groups or organizations.

Sponsorship occurs when a business, organization or individual provides financial support to another business, organization or individual. Sponsorship represents one of the few potentially symbiotic relationships between businesses and organizations: the sponsored party gets financial support, the sponsoring party gets positive advertisement. While some sponsorship is sought by the sponsoring organization (celebrity endorsement, for example), the vast majority of sponsorships are sought after by the individual or group who will be sponsored. Writing a paper or proposal requesting sponsorship requires you to articulate how both you and the sponsor will benefit from the sponsor relationship.

Instructions

    • 1

Introduce yourself or your organization, as well as your purpose in writing the sponsorship paper. Frame your purpose in terms of how your sponsorship will benefit the company. For example, "I am writing to suggest an exciting way for your company to expand its potential client base in Grand Rapids, Michigan."

    • 2

Indicate a problem the sponsoring company experiences that you believe your sponsorship can help to solve. For example, "Currently, the number one preferred soda brand in Grand Rapids is your main competitor."

    • 3

Articulate the objectives of your sponsorship paper. For example, "I hope to gain your sponsorship, which would, in turn, aid your company's efforts in establishing greater popularity in the Grand Rapids area."

    • 4

Outline your solution to the problem. This includes a description of what the company would get by sponsoring you. For example, "If sponsored, I will aid your company in the following ways: by orchestrating product giveaways, by offering up my vehicle as a mobile billboard for your product and by recommending your product to the numerous groups and organizations in which I participate.

    • 5

List the resources you expect in return for your sponsorship. For example, "If you agree to sponsor me, I will require funds to decorate my car with your logo, as well as access to your product to distribute during giveaways. Additionally, I will require an annual stipend of $5,000 for the duration of my sponsorship."

    • 6

Summarize the main points of your sponsorship paper. Emphasize the potential benefits your sponsorship will bring to the company, as well as the ways in which this sponsorship will help to solve the problem you articulated earlier in the paper.
