How to Create Amazon Associate Sub-IDs

An Amazon associate sub-ID, or tracking ID, enables you to identify your successful marketing strategies because the ID lets you know where people are actually making purchases. This ID is comprised of a term of your choosing and is linked to the aStore, widget or other tool you use to promote Amazon products. In addition, you have the option to use the ID in your page URLs to gain more insight into where your traffic is coming from. You can create your Amazon associate tracking IDs using the features in your account.

  • Log in to your Amazon associates account and click the "Account Settings" link at the top of the page (see Resources).

  • Click the "Manage your tracking IDs" link in the "Account Information" section and then click the "Add Tracking ID" button that appears on the page.

  • Enter a term in the text field that helps you identify this new ID. Amazon automatically appends a "-20" to the end of your entry to indicate you are a North American associate. Click the "Search" button to continue.

  • Click the "Continue" button to finish creating your tracking ID. Otherwise, if your desired ID is not available, click the button next to a recommendation that automatically displays and then click the "Use Selected" button.
