How to Add Glitter to Valspar Enamel Paint

Valspar paint is a brand of paint that comes in several varieties. Acrylic enamel paint is suitable for a variety of surfaces, including wood, metal, plastic and masonry surfaces. Enamel paint is durable and long-lasting. For a different look, try adding glitter to the paint. While adding glitter directly to the paint would prevent the sparkles from being visible, painting a coat of clear glitter glaze over the painted surface will enhance the base color and add a glittery sparkle to the object. Try using glitter paint in unexpected areas, such as on walls or end tables.

Things You'll Need

• Liquid soap
• Large sponge
• Valspar primer
• Valspar acrylic enamel paint
• Paintbrushes
• Clear acrylic glitter glaze or spray
• Clear acrylic glaze

Instructions

1. Clean the surface to be painted with soapy water and rinse. Allow to dry for two hours. Paint the surface with a coat of Valspar primer. Allow the primer to dry for two hours.

2. Paint the wall or surface with the Valspar enamel paint. Allow the paint to dry for at least two hours. Use as many coats as desired. The surface should look completely finished.

3. Paint the surface of the object with acrylic glitter glaze or spray. The glitter will enhance the base color of paint. Allow the glaze to dry for two hours.

4. Seal the surface with a clear acrylic glaze. This will seal the glitter and paint, making it possible to clean the surface without damaging the paint or surface under the paint. This will also make the surface smooth to the touch, rather than rough like it would be if you only used the glitter glaze.
