How to Install a Leather Banjo Strap
One instrument steeped in Americana is the banjo. The instruments are available in four- or five-string models. When the strings are plucked with the special picks, they resonate against the banjo head to give off the distinctive sounds of the instrument. Most banjos are made to accept a strap, attached at special studs on the rim of the instrument. A leather banjo strap uses the same studs as any other style of strap for the banjo.

1
Uncurl the leather banjo strap and straighten it. Look for the two ends of the strap and see whether the strap has slits in the ends or leather strings.
-
2
Position the strap around your shoulder, with the pad resting over the clavicle (collarbone). Run the end of the strap to the front of the banjo. Insert the slit over the banjo stud, a metal knob in the middle center of the rim. Pull up to secure the slit over the banjo stud. If you strap has leather strings, wrap them around the stud in opposing directions to lock it in place.
