How Do You Burn DVDs?
Numerous reasons exist as to why you may want to burn a DVD. You can use DVDs to store data, multimedia files or backups of commercial DVDs. A standard writable DVD has a storage capacity of 4.7 GB, and a dual-layer writable DVD has a capacity of 8.5 GB. To burn a DVD, however, you need the right software.

Open your DVD-burning software.

Insert a blank DVD in your DVD-writable drive.

Choose the type of DVD -- data DVD, multimedia DVD or video DVD -- you wish to burn from the burning software menu.

Import the files you want to burn to your DVD. Depending on the software, you may be able to drag and drop the files directly from your hard drive to the burning software window.

Click the "Start" button to begin the burn process. Follow any on-screen instructions to finalize the DVD.
