Filters add interesting effects and textures to Photoshop images. You can find free or low-cost Photoshop filters on the Internet.

From Quick Guide: Intro to Photoshop
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Check under the Images menu in Paint Shop Pro to view the filters included with the program, such as Blur and Sharpen.

  2. Step 2

Visit the Adobe Photoshop home page for filter downloads.

  3. Step 3

Use the Filter Factory program to create your own filters or visit their Web site to view thousands of filters created with Filter Factory.

  4. Step 4

Ask graphic artists on the Web which filters they used to create certain effects and where they downloaded their favorite filters.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some filters must be purchased, but the authors may allow you to demo the filter to see what the image will look like when the filter is applied.
  • Most purchased filters come in a package of several filters and are easy to install.
  • Ask permission before downloading any filter that does not say "free" or "shareware."

on 7/6/2009 This article is related to Adobe Photo Shop. Step 1 states "check under the Images menu in Paint Shop Pro". This should be fixed.

Additionally, I don't feel like this is a "How to" article. It is a "Here is where to go buy stuff to make Adobe Photo Shop do what you want it to."
