How to Modify Explorer's Toolbars

Internet Explorer comes with several toolbars, including the command toolbar and the favorites bar. You can customize which toolbars are shown by removing or adding them from the browser window. You can also modify the command toolbar buttons. The command toolbar includes handy shortcuts like "Print," "Home," "Help," as well as text editing tools like "Copy," "Cut" and "Paste."

  1. Adding or Removing Toolbars

      Open Internet Explorer and right click on the blank area under the address bar.

      View the available toolbars in the context menu. Toolbars with a check next to them are enabled. Toolbars without a check are disabled.

      Click on a disabled toolbar to enable it. Click on an enabled toolbar to disable it.

    Modifying the Command Toolbar

      Right-click on any of the command toolbar buttons. These are the buttons in the upper-right corner of the IE browser window. If you see no buttons, right-click on the blank area and select "Command Bar" to enabled the command bar.

      Select "Customize," and then select "Add or Remove Commands."

      View the current command buttons in the right window. If you want to remove one of them, click it and select "Remove."

      View the currently disabled command buttons in the left window. To enable one, click on it and select "Add."
