How to Make Badges & Name Tags

How to Make Badges & Name Tags thumbnail
Police officers are required to wear badges for identification.

Name tags are common in service industries and badges easily identify company employees. Name tags also are used for events such as class reunions, seminars and workshops. Many badges contain a photograph of the person as well as their name and title. Name tags usually display the person's name only. Creating your own badges and name tags can be economical for you and your company.

Instructions

    • 1

Arrange 2-inch by 3-inch columns and rows in a blank word document. Draw a text box in one of the areas and paste the company logo inside the box. Drag the text box with the design inside to the upper left of the box.

    • 2

Type the employee's name in the center of the box using an 18-point font. Type the person's title underneath the name using a smaller 12- or 16-point font.

    • 3

Copy and paste the logo text box into each of the other 2-inch by 3-inch spaces and arrange them in the same position as the first. Type other employee names and titles as previously inserted and open a "Print Preview" page.

    • 4

Inspect the document for spelling accuracy and correct capitalization. Check that each image and name is within the printed areas of the document page. Print the document onto a piece of white card stock.

    • 5

Cut the document into 2-inch by 3-inch badges using a paper cutter to ensure a straight edge. Sandwich the card stock badge between two self-adhesive laminating sheets and smooth the sheets to rid the badge of any air bubbles.

    • 6

Attach one side of a set of magnets to the back of the laminated badge with strong and permanent craft glue. Allow the magnet to dry completely. The magnets will keep the badge in place by sandwiching the employee's shirt between the two pieces of magnet.
