Grill Method

1

2
Preheat the grill to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the jalapenos on the foil, leaving the top up.
-
-
3
Roast the jalapenos for approximately 2 minutes on each side, rotating regularly.
-
4
Remove the jalapenos from the heat when about half of their skin has been blackened, usually about 6 to 10 minutes, depending on the size of the jalapenos.
-
5
Allow the jalapenos to cool for 2 minutes, and then peel the skin with your fingers or the edge of a spoon.
Stove Top Method
-
6
Turn the heat up to high on one of the burners on the stove. It is not necessary to remove the covering on top of the burner.

7
Grab a single jalapeno with a pair of heat resistant tongs. Hold the jalapeno over the heat, approximately 4 to 6 inches above the heat, for 1 minute.

8
Rotate the jalapeno until about half is fully blackened. Place the jalapeno in a plastic bag and repeat for the rest of the jalapenos, putting them in the plastic bag as you go.

Tips & Warnings
Roasted jalapenos can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
For longer storage, freeze the jalapenos whole or chopped into smaller pieces in measured increments that you might use for a typical recipe. Ice cube trays work particularly well for freezing portions of chopped jalapenos.
