How to Use the Sunday Coupons
The terms "BOGO" and "couponing" will become part of your everyday lingo as you begin to master the art of coupons. Traditionally, many manufacturers place coupons for their products in the Sunday paper, and now many are placing coupons online. Coupons offer an opportunity to save on the price of everyday items, but not all coupons are deals. Learn when and when not to use your Sunday coupons.
Instructions

1
Find coupons for products that you will use and that offer a true savings. Cutting coupons that you will not use will only clutter up your coupon envelope or holder.
-
2
Cut the coupons from the advertisement in the Sunday paper. Cut around the edges of the coupon so the advertised deal and manufacturer's code are clearly visible.
-
-
3
Organize the coupons according to type of product and expiration date in separate envelopes or a small plastic file. For example, place all frozen-food coupons or baby items together, and place the ones that expire soonest in front.
-
4
Visit stores that accept coupons and double coupons. Double coupons offer twice the savings. If you aren't sure if your store accepts coupons or will double coupons, call or ask a sales person before shopping. Some stores only double coupons on specific days.
-
5
Find store items that you have a coupon for. The key to successful couponing is stockpiling on items that you use or will use in the future and before the expiration date. Don't purchase items that you have no use for just because they're a good deal.
-
6
Calculate the best deal. Compare the savings offered by the coupon with the price of other brands to find the best deal. MommySavers also recommends computing the unit price of an item.

7
Grab BOGO items. This is also referred to as buy one, get one free. These coupons offer a free item when you purchase a like item, which computes to a savings of 50 percent on both items. Pay attention to in-store specials offering BOGO deals as well.

Go to the cashier and have her ring up your items as usual. After she rings up all of the items, give her your coupons. The savings offered by a coupon is electronically debited from the item's purchase price. Once the discounts are applied, pay for the items.

Tips & Warnings
Sometimes generic brands offer a bigger savings than name brands even if you have a coupon. If you are not sure about the price of the generic version of the product versus the savings offered by the coupon, set aside the coupon and assess the best value in the store.
To calculate the unit price, you must compute how much each item within the package costs. For example, you have a $1.50 off coupon for a specific brand of diapers. The 28-count box of diapers cost $7, with the discount the unit price of each diaper is $0.20. The 56-count box of these diapers cost $13, with the same discount applied the total unit price of each diaper is $0.21. The 28-count box is the best deal when using a coupon, although it isn't when purchasing with no coupon.
