How to Follow a Twitter Hashtag
The true function of hashtags in Twitter is to find similar tweets amidst the millions of 140-character-or-less status updates users post to Twitter each minute. Hashtags act as active keyword links in tweets, which you can click to find other tweets containing the same hashtag. Twitter lets you follow as many hashtags as you like so that you can keep up with your favorite topics.

Log in to your Twitter account.

Click on any hashtag in any tweet from your Twitter stream on your homepage. Alternatively, click one of Twitter's hashtags for trending topics, located in the right column of your homepage.

Click the "Save This Search" button to follow your hashtag. To view your saved searches, navigate to your Twitter homepage and click the "Searches" tab.

Tips & Warnings
You can also search for hastags to follow on Twitter by using the search bar at the top of your homepage. Be sure to include the "#" sign before your hashtag, otherwise your search will result in keywords.
