Getting your haircut at a beauty salon sounds like a straight forward thing to do. But, sometimes it is difficult to find one that listens to what you want, falls within your budget and does a good job. However, with the right guidance you get can get your haircut at a beauty salon and leave with a new look and confidence boost.

1. Speak to your girlfriends about where they get their haircut. Ask for recommendations and determine if you prefer to visit a hairdresser or beauty salon. A salon offers additional services such as manicures, massage, waxing and pedicures.

2. Look up "Beauty Salons" in your local telephone directory or online. Write down the contact details of salons that are in a suitable location for you to visit.

3. Contact the salons. Make your inquiries -- ask how much the haircut will cost, the experience of the hairdresser, appointment availability and any other services they offer. Sometimes salons offer light refreshments as part of the deal.

4. Visit the salon prior to your appointment to see if you would like to get your hair cut at that location. You cannot hide a bad haircut unless you plan on wearing a wig -- so double check that you are happy with the services offered. Speak to the hairdresser to gain confidence in her abilities, if necessary.

5. Book the appointment. Confirm what time, which hairdresser and how long the cut will take to complete.

6. Select a haircut before you go to the beauty salon. Prepare by looking through fashion magazines to pick a hairstyle that you want. When you arrive at the salon, show the hairdresser the picture, and discuss whether or not it suits you.
