How to Set Up Automatic Payment for Capital One Credit Card

Set up automatic payments on your Capital One credit card account.

Capital One is a financial institution that issues credit cards and loans to consumers. Capital One credit card holders are required to make at least the minimum monthly payment on card balances each month. If you have a Capital One credit card, you have several options when it comes to making credit card payments each month: online payments, over the phone payments or mail payments. While not all Capital One credit card holders are eligible to set up automatic monthly payments, some customers are eligible for Capital One's AutoPay, which is an automatic payment system.

Instructions

1. Retrieve your Capital One credit card from your purse or wallet. You will need the card number, expiration date and security code on the back of your credit card when you enroll in AutoPay.

2. Call 800-955-7070 to see if your account is eligible for AutoPay. You will speak with a Capital One representative to provide all necessary information to determine whether your account is eligible. The AutoPay phone number is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

3. Provide your name, credit card number and expiration date. Once the representative has determined you are eligible to enroll in AutoPay, you must provide your bank account number, routing number and the name on your bank account so the representative can set up AutoPay for you. Select a payment amount to have deducted. Your payment is deducted from your account each month.
