Finding ground almonds at the grocery store can sometimes be a pain, and is almost always more expensive than buying whole almonds. With a little extra time it is possible to grind almonds at home. The result is called almond flour. A pound of almonds yields about 4 and 1/2 cups of sifted almond flour. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 1 cup almonds
  • Blender
  • Bowl
  • Strainer

Instructions

    • 1

      Pour just enough almonds into the blender to cover the blades. This should be about 1/2 of a cup. Put the blender on the grind setting.

      Turn on the blender and blend until the nuts are a fine powder, but not yet butter. Pour the contents of the blender through a strainer held over a bowl. Pour what's left in the strainer back into the blender

      Blend the remaining nuts in small batches until you have reduced all of the almonds to powder. Use the strainer after each batch to ensure that you have caught all of the large pieces of almond.
