How to Freeze Homemade Potatoes
Potatoes -- from standard white varieties to sweet potatoes -- are traditional American fare and are a staple in many households. Regardless of type, there are numerous ways to prepare potatoes at home, and if done properly, freezing is always an option to save them for future use. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Paper towels
- Cookie sheet
- Freezer bags or freezer containers
- Freezer wrap
Instructions

Roasted Potatoes

Prepare and roast your potatoes as usual.

Lay clean, dry paper towels on a plate or cookie sheet and place the roasted potatoes on top to drain and completely cool down.

Open a freezer bag and fill it with the roasted potatoes. If needed, use more than one bag.

Release as much of the air as possible from the bag before sealing it.

Place the sealed bag in the freezer for no more than 3 months.
Homemade French Fries

Place cooked fries in the refrigerator to cool quickly or leave them sitting out until they are no longer hot.

Place the fries in a freezer container or freezer bag.

Remove as much air as possible from the freezer bag prior to sealing it.

Store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Homemade Mashed Potatoes

Shape the mashed potatoes into patties.

Arrange the patties on a cookie sheet.

Set the cookie sheet in your freezer until the potato patties are frozen.

Remove the sheet from the freezer and set the patties in a freezer container.

Separate each layer of patties with freezer wrap.
