How to Calculate the Height of a Child
Calculating the exact height of your child down to the inch can be accomplished in just a few minutes with a tape measure and a pencil. Tracking the growth of your child can clue you in on when its time to buy new clothes or could just be useful information for a scrapbook. Have your child stand with his back against a flat surface, like a wall. The child's legs, back and head should all be touching the flat surface.

Line a pencil up with the top of your child's head and make a mark against the wall at this point. Allow the child to move away from the wall.

Measure the distance from the mark on the wall to the floor. The number on your tape measure is the height, in inches, of the child.
