How to Mix a Bright Green With Acrylics

Save

Mixing acrylic paint colors repeatedly without success can be frustrating. Bright green is a difficult shade to create. In order to achieve the desired color shade, the perfect amount of specific paint colors is needed. The basic colors needed to mix a bright green paint color are common acrylic colors, and are most likely already in your paint inventory.

Things You'll Need

  • Hansa Yellow Medium paint
  • Phthalo Green paint in the shade of blue
  • Mix 10 parts of Hansa Yellow Medium acrylic paint with 1 part of Phthalo Green (in the shade of blue) acrylic paint. This will make a bright green.

  • Mix nine parts of Hansa Yellow Medium acrylic paint with one part of Phthalo Green (in the shade of blue) acrylic paint. If you would like a different shade of bright green, add an additional small amount (1 part) of Phthalo Green at a time. This will make a bright lime green.

  • Experiment with varying amounts of each Hans Yellow Medium acrylic paint and Phthalo Green (in the shade of blue) acrylic paint until you find the desired shade of bright green. Make sure you record the number of parts of each color that make up the shades you like and desire to use later.

Tips & Warnings

  • Record the ratios for later reference in mixing this color again, or so that you do not try it again when looking for another shade.
