How to Make an Ameritrade Account
If you are looking to get into the stock market and trade stocks, you are going to need a brokerage account to do so.
Many discount brokerage companies offer their services online, so you can easily sign up for a brokerage account. TD Ameritrade is an online discount broker that allows anyone with an Internet connection and the funds to sign up for an account and start trading stocks through their website.

Navigate to the TD Ameritrade website (see Resources).

Click the "Open An Account" button at the top right corner of the home page.

Select your account type: Individual, Joint or (IRA) Individual Retirement Account.

Complete the new account application. Enter your name, address, banking, Social Security information and any other information that is required to complete the registration.

Transfer funds to your new account. In order to start using and trading stocks with TD Ameritrade, as of April 2011 they require a minimum of $500 deposited into your new account.

Continue following the on page instructions to complete your registration. Once finished, TD Ameritrade gives you security access to your new account.
