How to Fire Fast With an M14 in CoD4

The mult-iplayer mode in "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" (COD4) enables players to compete in simulated war games using a variety of weapons, including the M14 rifle. Unlike a fully automatic machine or submachine gun, the M14 has a semi-automatic rate of fire. This fire type requires players to press the "R1" fire button each time they want to fire one bullet. Increasing the fire rate requires more than just a fast trigger finger.

Instructions

    • 1

Put the Modern Warfare CD into your console. Press the "Start" button on your controller after the game loads to enter the main game menu.

    • 2

Highlight and click "Multiplayer" to enter the multi-player mode. Highlight and click "Play Online" in the Multiplayer menu.

    • 3

Highlight and click "Create a Class" and then highlight and click on the class you have set up to use the M14 rifle. Highlight and click on the M14 rifle and then add the "Red Dot Sight" attachment to this weapon. The Red Dot Sight changes the M14's recoil pattern to kick the rifle slightly upward after each shot.

    • 4

Highlight and click on the Tier 2 Perk slot and then select "Double Tap" as your Tier 2 perk. This perk increases the rate of fire for every weapon in the game by 33 percent.

    • 5

Highlight and click on the Tier 3 Perk slot and then select "Steady Aim" as your Tier 3 perk. This perk makes the recoil of any weapon more manageable and gives you a more accurate "hip fire," for when you don't aim down the sights of your M14.

    • 6

Return to the Multiplayer menu. Highlight and click "Find Game" and then select and click on the type of game you wish to play, such as "Domination."

    • 7

Use the right analog stick to move the crosshairs near an enemy player and then take your finger off the right analog stick.

    • 8

Use the aim-assist feature to quickly target enemies. The multi-player game engine has an aim-assist feature that locks the crosshairs of your weapon onto the nearest enemy when you are not manually aiming the weapon. Press the "L1" aim button while not maneuvering the right analog stick that controls the crosshairs, then quickly fire your first shot with the "R1" fire button.

    • 9

Press the "R1" button twice in quick succession immediately after you take the first shot. The changed recoil from the Red Dot Sight will only move the crosshairs slightly up and as long as the enemy player wasn't running when you took the first shot, your next two bullets will still be on target.

Practice using the auto-aim feature until you have mastered this quick fire sequence.
