How to Mop a Kitchen Floor
The kitchen is considered the heart of the home. It is high traffic, the place where you prepare and store your food and, in some families, is the primary gathering space. Keeping a kitchen clean requires both on the spot and deep cleaning, and one of the most important areas to clean well is the kitchen floor. Using a traditional mop, along with a detergent floor cleaner, is the most effective way to remove streaks, stains and bacteria from the floor. Does this Spark an idea?

Sweep your kitchen floor using the broom to pick up any large pieces of rubbish or dust. Sweep into a dustpan and dispose of it in the trash.

Fill the bucket halfway with warm to hot water.

Add the floor cleaner to the bucket of water according to the manufacturer's directions.

Dip the mop, mop head first, into the bucket. Ensure the whole mop head is submerged.

Place the mop head into the wringer, and pull the handle to remove excess water from the mop.

Mop beginning at one side of your kitchen, using long, even strokes. Apply and adjust your pressure on the mop handle to control how hard you mop the floor.

Scrub at stains using short strokes.

Repeat Steps 4 and 5 when the mop becomes dry or soiled.

Mop the entire floor, moving backward through your kitchen. Allow the floor to dry completely before walking on it.

Tips & Warnings
You can choose from a wide variety of mops: the traditional string mop, sponge mops or ones with disposable wet/dry pads that do not need a bucket. They all work equally well, so choose the mop that you like best.
