Not interested in learning JavaScript? You can find tons of free scripts on the Web to password-protect your Web site, add button rollover effects, and more.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Type "free JavaScript" into a search engine. Most of the sites that offer free JavaScripts are registered with the major search engines.

  2. Step 2

Go to sites that specialize in JavaScripts, free or otherwise. Sites such as JavaScript.com offer thousands of free JavaScripts.

  3. Step 3

Check with your ISP. Some ISPs offer free JavaScripts for personal use, while others will create a simple script for you for a small fee.

  4. Step 4

Return to sites with JavaScripts that you like and ask the site owner where a script came from, and/or if you can copy it. Many site owners will allow you to do this if you provide a link back to their sites.

Tips & Warnings
  • If a Webmaster allows you to use a JavaScript, reciprocate by linking back to his or her site.
  • Make sure the JavaScript you choose provides instructions for its use (and for customizing it, if applicable).
  • Do not use a JavaScript code without permission from the author or the Web site where you found it.
