How to Put Yeast in Septic Tanks
Septic tanks facilitate removal of waste materials from the commode, sink, washing machine and bathtub. Properly managing and maintaining your septic tank will prevent costs related to clogged field lines, full septic tanks or even septic tank replacement. Things You'll Need
- 4 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups cornmeal
- Sauce pan
- 1 cup active dry yeast culture

Boil 4 cups of water in a medium sauce pan.

Dissolve 2 cups of sugar in the boiled water.

Mix 2 cups of corn meal into the sugar water. Allow the sugar water to cool for 10 minutes before adding 1 cup of active dry yeast culture to the water mixture. Wait 20 additional minutes for the yeast to foam.

Pour the mixture into the commode. Flush the commode. Wait for the commode tank to refill, then flush again.

Tips & Warnings
Treat the septic tank at a time when you won't be flushing the commode for eight to 10 hours. A good time measure would be at night before going to bed or in the morning as you leave for work or school.
