How to Use Tweet Adder & Twitter Lists
You've just started your own Twitter account and the only thing you know how to do is type 140 characters and press "Tweet." You have a few friends on Twitter, each following their friends -- who you also want to follow. You can manually follow each person, or you can use a program like Tweet Adder to follow them for you. After you're done, you may be following too many people to keep track of. The solution is to use Twitter Lists to help you sort out who's who.
Instructions
-
Tweet Adder
-
1
Install Tweet Adder (see Resources) and add your Twitter account by entering your Twitter username and password.
-
2
Use the "Overview" page to look at all of the Twitter usernames currently associated with your Tweet Adder profile. Open an account by clicking on the Twitter username, then clicking "Open User." Here you'll be able to change any general settings for the account -- username, password, and automation.
-
-
3
Use the "Settings" page to set a time delay for when Tweet Adder will login to different accounts. If you're using Windows, you can also click the "Minimize to System Tray" button, which will allow Tweet Adder to run in the background while you work on other programs.
-
4
View the "Activity Log" to see what Tweet Adder has been doing with each of your accounts. Tweets sent, automated follows and unfollows can all be seen here. If there are any errors, here is where you'll be able to see them.
-
5
Open the "Search" tab, select "Find Followers of an User," and type in the user. You can use this to follow all of the people following one particular user. This is particularly good for getting a large number of people to follow you back, as some will see that you're following them and follow you back automatically.
-
6
Use the "Follow Back" feature to automatically follow back anyone who follows you. This will help develop your relationships with other Twitter users.
-
7
Add a user to the Black List in order to stop Tweet Adder from following that particular person. Alternatively, if you add a user to the White List, Tweet Adder will never unfollow that Twitter user.
Twitter Lists
-
8
Click your "Following" menu on the right hand side of Twitter to open up a list of all of the Twitter users you follow. Find one Twitter user you would like to add to a list, then click on their username.
-
9
Click on the "List" button. The "List" button on Twitter looks like several lines, each with a bullet point beside it. A Twitter menu will appear asking you to create a list.
-
10
Type in a name for your list, and a small description. Set the list to "Public" if you want everyone to see it, or to "Private" if you want it to only be visible to you. After you're finished, the user will be added to your Twitter List.
