How to Find My Comcast Subnet

Save

A subnet mask is a designated number assigned to individual computers over a local network or a wide one such as the Internet. The purpose of a subnet mask is to divide wide-area networks into more manageable ones. Comcast customers are assigned special numbers such as an IP address, a gateway and a subnet mask. These numbers are standards used in an IP-based network to enable communication between individual computers.

  • Click "Start" > "Search" and type "cmd" in the search box and hit "Enter." This will open the command prompt.

  • Type the following code in the command window: "ipconfig/all" and Press "Enter." This will display information across your screen.

  • Look under the "Ethernet Adapter Comcast" header.

  • Look for the "Subnet Mask" category. You should see a number similar to following: 255.255.255.000. This is your Comcast Subnet Mask number.
