How to Get a Wal-Mart Pay Card
A Walmart MoneyCard or pay card is a debit card that you can use anywhere that accepts Visa and MasterCard debit cards as well as at automatic teller machines. The MoneyCard is a prepaid card that works exactly like a traditional debit card with one exception -- it does not allow the user to carry a line of credit on the card. Users can load the cards with money at Walmart locations and then use them for purchases at Walmart or a variety of other places. The card offers the convenience of cashless purchases but unlike a bank account, no applications or credit checks are required to get the card.

1
Sign up for a Walmart MoneyCard online at walmartmoneycard.com or at your local Walmart store.
-
2
Provide your contact information including first and last name, home address and email address and at least one phone number. Because the card is sponsored by GE Money Bank, a financial institution regulated by federal law, the bank requires your Social Security number and birthdate in order to protect you against fraud and unauthorized use of your Walmart MoneyCard.

3
Wait seven to 10 days to receive your card if you sign up online, or receive it and load it with funds immediately at your local Walmart to begin using your card.
-
4
Use your MoneyCard for one year of activation, after which you will need to get a new card. Understand that the card will have your name on it and funds loaded onto the card will be FDIC insured. Reload your card with more funds by depositing cash at Walmart or transferring money electronically from your bank account to your MoneyCard account. A $3 reload fee applies to in-person deposits but can be avoided if you sign up for direct deposit or check cashing at Walmart.
