How to Make Animated Water Textures for "Second Life"
"Second Life" is an online game that allows viewers to buy digital land within the game and create their own worlds. In order to add to their created worlds or have them look better, players often create water within the game. To look accurate, the water needs to be textured and animated to move like real water. Animated water textures are more realistic and visually appealing than regular water. Making animated water textures is a necessity for anyone building water within "Second Life."

Right-click the blank prim with your mouse, bringing up a circular menu.

Click "Edit" on the circular menu. When you have done this correctly, a new box appears tabbed to "General."

Press the "Texture" tab. It is three tabs to the right of the "General" tab.

Select inside the box reading "Texture." The box is styled like plywood and on the top-left corner of the "Texture" tab. After selecting the box, a menu appears containing a list for all textures in your inventory.

Choose the water texture by highlighting its name from the list.

Click "Select." The blank prim should now match your water texture.

Choose the "Content" tab. It is right of the "Texture" tab. The "Content" tab will show a manila folder called "Contents."

Drag the animation script from your inventory and into the manila "Contents" folder. The blank prim should now be an animated water texture.

Tips & Warnings
To find things quicker in your inventory, name the script and water texture an easily remembered name, and then search the name when looking for them.
The prim, texture and script all need to be "no modify" to work.
If the script is "no copy," you will not be able to use it more than once.
