How to Use an Anti-Static Wristband
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is a major problem in computer repair. Your body gathers static electricity from your clothes rubbing against each other or other objects. This charge can destroy computer circuitry when it is touched. An anti-static wristband is a tool used by computer technicians to ground the built up electricity when working with computers. These wristbands prevent ESD by transferring electrical charge from the body to the metal frame of the computer.
