How to Replace an IBM 600 Laptop BIOS Battery
The Lenovo Thinkpad 600 by IBM is a laptop computer designed for business or personal use. The 600 Laptop contains a BIOS battery, also known as a backup battery, that provides the necessary power to save BIOS hardware settings. If the BIOS battery wears out, BIOS settings will reset back to the factory-set configuration. Replace the BIOS battery to keep the settings intact.

Turn the IBM 600 laptop off. Turn the notebook computer over so the base is facing up.

Loosen the single screw that holds the memory compartment cover in place with the Phillips screwdriver. Do not fully remove the screw.

Lift the memory compartment cover up to remove it.

Plug the new BIOS battery connector into the socket. Press the connector into the socket until it is firmly seated. Place the battery into the compartment.

Replace the memory module cover. Tighten the screw that holds the cover in position.

Replace the memory module cover. Tighten the screw that holds the cover in position.
