Serve burritos with a side of rice for a quick meal.

Burritos can contain a wide variety of fillings on a soft flour tortilla shell. But properly folding those fillings inside the tortilla is the key to this hand-held meal. Without proper technique, the fillings will fall out onto your plate. Rolling the burritos properly allows the tortilla to conform to the filling so that you can enjoy all the flavors with each bite. After you fold the burritos, you can fry them on the stovetop to give them a crunchy texture. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Heat the tortillas by following the package instructions. This makes them pliable, less prone to cracking and easier to fold.

    • 2

Spoon the desired burrito fillings onto the center of the tortilla.

    • 3

Fold the bottom of the tortilla over the filling so that it overlaps it by 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch.

    • 4

Fold the two long opposite sides over the filling. Roll the burrito from the bottom to the top tightly. Turn the burrito over onto a plate and it is ready.

Tips & Warnings

  • Secure a burrito together with toothpicks if it does not remain closed. Frying the seam on a pan also helps. Add 1 tsp. of vegetable oil to a skillet and place it over medium heat. Place the seam side of the burrito down and cook it for 2 to 4 minutes or until golden brown. Turn the burrito over only once while it cooks.

  • Avoid filling the burrito too full because the tortilla may rip apart when you fold it.
