How Should I Do My Daughter's Makeup for a Pirate?
While they've long been perennial favorites for Halloween costumes, pirates enjoyed a surge in popularity starting in 2003 when Disney released "The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl." Captain Jack Sparrow, played by actor Johnny Depp, is an iconic pirate image for kids and provides an easy-to-imitate look. Pirate Makeup for Girls
-
1
A clean face helps the makeup go on smoothly. Wash and dry your child's face.
-
2
Eyeliner makes the eyes stand out. Outline her eyes with black or brown eyeliner. While this step isn't strictly necessary, it emphasizes the eyes and mimics the makeup of Captain Jack Sparrow.

3
Stitched-up scars give your pirate a bit of ferocity. Draw a stitched-up wound or scar on her cheek or chin with the eyebrow pencil and non-toxic makeup. This can be as simple as a single line with lines drawn across it or you can add holes on the sides where the "stitches" enter the skin. If you're artistic, this element can be as complex as an oozing, open wound.
-
4
Use a real eye patch if you don't want to use makeup. Create an eye patch with the eyebrow pencil and eyeshadow. The eyeshadow is safer for trick-or-treating than a patch that actually covers the eye. Apply powder eyeshadow around one eye in the shape of an eye patch, and then use the eyebrow pencil to draw the strap holding it on.

Be careful putting makeup around the eyes. Wash your child's face, dry it gently and then cover her face, ears and neck with the white powder makeup.
-
6
Purple is another good eyeshadow color choice. Outline her eyes with black or blue liner, and then put blue eyeshadow on her lids and around the underside of her eyes to make them appear sunken.
-
7
Additional makeup can increase the skull look. Apply black, blue or purple lipstick to her lips. To give her a skull-like look, make vertical lines with a dark lip liner above and below her lips to mimic teeth.

Tips & Warnings
Put the costume on before adding makeup to keep it from smearing, but cover the costume with a towel or old button down shirt to keep the makeup from getting on it.
