How to Import Data Into Your MPC1000
Samples and sequences are the heart and soul of any drum machine, as they play a vital part in defining your sound as a producer. Whether you want to add more depth to your sound or delve into a new genre, you'll want to keep your drum machine updated with new samples and sequences. Fortunately, if you own Akai's MPC1000, you can easily import new data into your drum machine via its flash memory slot.

Insert your flash memory card into the card slot on the front of your MPC1000. Orientate the card so that its golden contacts are facing down and the contacts side of the card is inserted first.

Power on the MPC1000 by pushing the unit's "ON/OFF" button. Press the "Mode" button on the top of the unit, and then press the "PAD02/Load" button.

Use the MPC1000's "Up" and "Down" arrow buttons to highlight the "Load from" field in the on-screen menu. Use the "Data" knob to toggle the data in the "Load from" field to "Memory Card."

Highlight the "File" field, and then press the "Window" button locate a specific file or folder. Use the "Up" and "Down" arrows to move to a file or folder in the on-screen directory. Use the "Right" arrow to open a folder, and use the "Left" arrow to move to the parent folder. Press "F5" to load the highlighted file or folder.

Hit one of the MPC1000's pads to assign your sample to it, if you imported a sample. If you imported a sequence, highlight the "Load from" field. Use the "Left" and "Right" arrow buttons to select a sequence bank number from the field. Press "F5" to store the sequence to the bank.

Select the "Load from" field if you imported a program, and use the "Data" knob to specify whether you want to load the program with or without its accompanying samples. Press "F5" to load the program.
