How to Make a Lined Hooded Towel
You can make a lined hooded towel to use at home, to bring to the beach or to offer as a gift for a special occasion. Make the hooded towel from a soft cotton terry fabric for a baby's towel or make a superabsorbent microfiber towel for a child or adult. Enhance the look of the completed towel hood with pompoms or other decorative attachments, or add a braided cord around the hood for an elegant finish.

1
Measure and cut a piece of terrycloth to 28 inches by 53 inches. Fold over a ½-inch on each side of the rectangle and sew the seam in place with a straight stitch on the sewing machine, or by hand, to give the towel a smooth edge.
-
2
Cut a 10-inch-by-16-inch rectangle from the same fabric for the outside of the towel hood or use a complementary color and fabric. Cut the same size rectangle from a piece of fabric to use as the lining.

3
Place the lining fabric rectangle on top of the outer fabric rectangle with the good sides facing inward and pin the10-inch sides in place. Sew each 10-inch side together using a straight stitch.
-
4
Fold in half to make a 10-inch by 8-inch rectangle. Sew one of the 8-inch seams using a straight stitch. Reach inside the folded rectangle and turn the fabric right side out.
-
5
Find the center point of the short side of the terrycloth towel. Place the center fold of the hood at the center point and pin the edges of the hood to the towel, overlapping approximately ¼-inch of the ling fabric on one side of the towel and ¼-inch of the outer fabric on the other side of the towel.
-
6
Fold the ¼-inch of the lining inward to make a smooth edge and sew the edge to the towel with a small straight stitch. Repeat this step for the outer fabric of the hood.
