How to Make a Large Donate Button in PayPal

Save

PayPal lets you make any of several different buttons and place them on your website to let visitors interact with you through the e-commerce business. The Donate button allows them to make contributions to you for any reason you choose. When you create it, PayPal provides a one-size-fits-all graphic for the Donate button, but you may modify the button code to increase or decrease its size. However, increasing the button size might make it appear stretched or skewed, so be wary of how the button appears before you make it live.

  • Log in to your PayPal account. This creates the link to your specific account used by the Donate button.

  • Click on the "Merchant Services" tab. Click on "Donate" under "Create buttons" on the next page.

  • Type your organization name and optional donation ID into the two text boxes under "Step 1." Customize your button's text and appearance to display what you want to show. Select your currency from the drop-down menu beneath the customize box and specify the contribution amounts and merchant account IDs. Click on "Create Button" to go to a page with your Donate button code.

  • Press the "Select Code" button to copy the code for it. Open your HTML page and insert the cursor where you want to place your Donate button. Paste the code here.

  • Modify one of the elements in the button's code to increase the button's size. One of the lines begins with "<image type="image" src=...". Type "width=250px" within the element to make the image stretch to 250 pixels. Modify the actual number of pixels to suit your needs on your page. Save your HTML file and upload it to your Web server.
