How to Make Zebra Stripes on a Cake
When you are baking a cake for someone who enjoys flamboyant fashion, such as animal prints, consider baking a cake and frosting it in a zebra-print pattern. You could also create a zebra-print cake for a children's party with an animal theme. Zebra print is a series of jagged black and white lines, but it is not as difficult to create as you might think. Things You'll Need
- Cake in the size of your choice
- Cake platter
- Buttercream frosting
- Frosting knife
- Rolling pin
- Pre-made black fondant
- Scalpel or small pizza wheel

Place your cake on the center of your cake platter. Wait until your cake is completely cooled before you begin working with it.

Apply a layer of buttercream frosting to your cake with a frosting knife. Once you have finished frosting the cake, smooth the frosting as much as you can with the frosting knife. You want as few ripples in the frosting as possible.

Place your ball of pre-made black fondant on a clean, flat surface. Roll out the fondant out to about a 1/8-inch thickness with your rolling pin.

Cut strips of fondant using your scalpel. The strips should not be even. Some should be thicker than others, some should be longer than others. Some strips should begin thin, become larger and end up thinner. Look at a picture of a zebra as a guide if that helps.

Place your fondant zebra-print strips onto the cake in a pattern that resembles a zebra print. Press the fondant slightly into the frosting so that it sticks.
