How to Add a PowerPoint Presentation to Facebook

How to Add a PowerPoint Presentation to Facebook thumbnail
A good PowerPoint presentation can make a good commercial for your business.

With options for creating animations and recordings, PowerPoint presentations can be used as video advertising or informational videos, and shared on your website and social media sites. The process requires you to first convert your presentation to a file format that Facebook is going to recognize as a video. Converting the presentation to video is quite simple -- that is, if you have the Mac version of PowerPoint. If you have the Windows version, you will need to download a converter software for the job, or find a friend with a Mac who will convert the video to a Quicktime file for you.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the PowerPoint presentation on your Mac computer.

    • 2

Choose "Make Movie" from the File menu.

    • 3

Give the file a name and save it to your desired folder on your computer. Click "Movie Options" to change the size and other optional selections, then click "OK." When the file is saved, it should have the extension ".mov" at the end of it, indicating the file is now a Quicktime movie.

    • 4

Log in to your Facebook profile.

    • 5

Above the "What's on your mind?" box, click the video camera icon.

    • 6

Select the Quicktime movie from the files and folders on your computer, then click "Open."

    • 7

Type in any information you'd like to describe your video in the "What's on your mind?" box. Your video should appear in the box when it's done uploading. Click "Share." Your video should then populate to your Facebook news feed.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have iWork, you can also use Keynote -- Mac's version of presentation software -- to open the PowerPoint presentation and convert the file to a Quicktime movie.

  • Be sure your popup blocker is disabled when you go to upload the Facebook video, as the upload status box will appear as a popup.
