How to Manually Calculate Hours Worked

How to Manually Calculate Hours Worked thumbnail
Hours worked helps you get a handle on your actual pay.

If you are working on an hourly wage, then you should calculate your hours worked in order to make sure you are being paid appropriately. If you are on an annual salary, then calculating the number of hours you work allows you to see how much money you are paid by the hour. This helps you compare two different jobs to see if one job is more profitable for you than another possible job.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the time you started one day and the time you ended that day. For example, assume you started at 8:30 and ended at 4:45.

    • 2

Subtract the time you started from 12. In the example, 12 minus 8:30 equals 3:30.

    • 3

Add the time you ended to the hours worked before 12. In the example, 3:30 plus 4:45 equals 8 hours and 15 minutes.
